Underdonk is pleased to present New American Pain curated by Jason Ramos of Eastside International in LA as part of the Trading Aces project organized by Artra Curatorial and Ashley Garrett. UNDERDONK will be curating a show of work by NY artists at ESX in LA in October.

Various articulations of painful but necessary experiences and feelings have come to typify much of the representations and imagery in the developed world of the 21st century. These 5 artists from New York and Los Angeles exhibit a range of stances that vary from a self-conscious anxiety of influence to indexically ominous portraits, compositions, and confrontations of formal presence, the grotesque, and the familiar.
