Gallery Hours: Friday to Sunday 2-6pm

As a child in Cuba, Pablo Diaz heard legends that cast the United States as a glorious land of wealth and plenty. The torso-sized aqua resin and oil canvases in the artists’ first solo exhibition Coin Toss examine fictions of wealth, nature, and utility in paintings that flip between abstraction and representation. Coins in the air, bodies of water, and everyday objects are rendered by the painter in muted, reflective colors applied in Diaz’s unique method involving tinted aqua resin and paint working from both sides of his surfaces.
Pablo MarianoDiaz (born in Camagüey Cuba ) is a New York based artist, recently graduated from the Hunter College MFA program, and the Hercules Studio Residency. The artist has a BFA from Cooper Union, and has lived in New York City since 1995.
